Thornlea University of Exeter - 2025
During Summer term, Fifields Construction were appointed for the refurbishment of Thornlea, an art and drama facility for students.
The project included creating new toilet facilities, converting the existing costume store into a digital experiences laboratory, replacing the existing windows and carrying out M&E works.
The project was completed in accordance with the SKA Higher Education Assessment Manual which implements extensive measures designed to enhance project sustainability performance across all construction stages. This is being achieved through the combined effort of the client, design team and Fifields as Principal Contractor with the support of our approved suppliers for this project.
It's always great to work with the University of Exeter, especially four years in a row!

Evergreen, Matford Lodge NHS - 2025
Owned and operated by the Devon Partnership NHS Trust, Matford Lodge and Larkby are two Georgian detached houses converted into consulting rooms and offices. An extension called ‘Evergreen’ has been constructed between Matford and Larkby, joining the two buildings.
The works undertaken by Fifields over two phases comprise the creation of various clinic rooms, the creation of an accessible WC, a new OT Clinic Space and a new assessment room.

Honiton Golf Club - 2025
During early Spring 2025, we had the pleasure of working on the extension of Honiton Golf Club.
The project included a second storey extension to the clubhouse, new external covered balcony, the installation of fifteen fire rated doors, new roofing, elevation cladding and refurbished kitchen, bar area and WC facilities.
Fifields Construction built a great relationship with Honiton Golf Club, and during the Summer we had also sponsored the club's hole challenge!

Grendon Almshouses Phase 1 - 2024
Grendon Almshouses was completed for our valued customer Exeter Homes Trust.
Phase 1 focused on altering and renovating one block of 12 flats. This included relocating the residents to another block during the works. This phase included a full strip-out and a rear extension to accommodate new modern amenities such as new kitchens, utility rooms, and wet rooms. Energy-efficient features like double glazing and enhanced insulation were introduced. Additionally, a separate building in the garden was constructed to provide an outdoor ‘common room’ and is set to be open for residents in time for the spring.
The Grand Opening was celebrated by the Lord Mayor and the trustees of the Exeter Homes Trust.

Grendon Almshouses Phase 2- 2025
Grendon Road Almshouses is a grade ll listed building.
Grade II buildings are considered to be of special interest, and they have architectural or historic significance. It is important to restore these buildings as they are a part of our heritage and contribute to the character of our cities and towns. By restoring these buildings, we are preserving our history and ensuring that future generations can appreciate and learn from our past. Additionally, the restoration of Grade II buildings can help to stimulate local economies by creating jobs and attracting tourism.
The refurbishment has resulted in modern, energy-efficient housing for the residents while still retaining the building's historical charm. The apartments have been upgraded with new mechanical and electrical services, modern shower rooms, ensuite toilets, and kitchens.
During Spring 2025, the Lord Mayor, residents and Exeter Homes Trustees celebrated the grand opening!
