Refurbishment Completed at the Royal Devon & Exeter Heavitree and Wonford Hospitals

In 2022, Fifields Construction was awarded a project at the Royal Devon & Exeter Heavitree and Wonford Hospitals, for the refurbishment of 48 staff kitchens in various locations across each facility.

Project Description:

The works required a rapid turnaround with Fifields successfully delivering 48 kitchens in a time scale of 10 weeks, whilst the hospital remained fully in operation.

The works required a survey of each room to be refurbished, producing a bespoke specification with associated schedules for the work to be undertaken.

Our Approach:

The project included the strip out of existing kitchens, floor finishes and suspended ceilings with associated fixtures and fittings, all safely disposed of in accordance with current environmental regulations.

New kitchens have been installed by our direct workforce, including new sinks, taps, worktops, floor coverings, and lighting adaptations to suit the new suspended ceilings. Electrical and plumbing alterations were made to suit the new layout in each room. Overall, each building has been left with a high-quality installation, providing new facilities to the staff and specialists in the hospital.

During every step, we listened to our clients and kept them involved and updated. Most importantly, we listened and met all budgets.

The End Result:

Overall, the works were completed with minimal disruption to the hospital staff and patients, with the Fifields site team accommodating all the requirements of the hospital, ensuring that a constant line of communication was maintained with the key members of the project team, and the representative of each department.
