Regional Winners - Building Excellence Awards 2021

A great achievement for all involved on the Postbridge Visitors Centre for Dartmoor National Park Authority.



Despite the many challenges of working in the middle of Dartmoor through some extreme winter weather conditions, the project was completed on time, within budget and to a very high quality thanks to the collective effort with the various project management and design teams.



We were pleased to be announced as a finalist for the best BEST NON-RESIDENTIAL EXTENSION OR ALTERATION and to win was a great achievement for all involved on the project.



The project at Postbridge Visitors Centre comprised of a refurbishment of the existing visitors centre along with the construction of a new single storey exhibition room.




The Dartmoor National Park were looking to enhance the experience of visitors of Dartmoor to learn about the areas Bronze Age past and the new extension provides an area for an exhibition space.


The refurbishment was completed using a mixture of traditional and modern materials including steel framing, natural granite walls, timber cladding, zinc roofing and aluminium windows.

Internally, works included a new staff toilet, tea making area and the replacement of all existing windows and doors.


Existing granite stone taken from Dartmoor was used to provide the external blockwork,

complementing the surrounding area of Dartmoor which is known for its natural granite

deposits.
