Newtown

Community Centre

State of the art community centre

The Newtown Community Building provides a state-of-the-art community centre, to provide a facility to cater for the various events that will take place, including live music and other public and community-based functions.

The building was contracted to be built by Fifields Construction acting as Principal Contractor working in conjunction with Allwood Timber.

The new facility provides a larger and more flexible space with a new kitchen and toilet facilities.

The building is constructed from a timber frame structure, with a sloping slate roof housing solar panels.

The works were carried out within Belmont Park which remained open and in use by the public throughout the contract phase.

Despite the presence of heavy public foot traffic throughout the works, the high standard of health and safety enforced by Fifields Construction eliminated any potential risk of injury or disruption to the general public.

The building was opened to the public by Deputy Lord Mayor Yolonda Henson in October 2019.
